Italian Renaissance scholar Danilo Aguzzi-Barbagli was born in Arezzo, Italy in 1924. After completing undergraduate work in Italy he received his Dottore in Lettere from the University of Florence in 1949 and PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University in 1959. Aguzzi-Barbagli began his teaching career at Vasser College, New Yourk (1955/56) before moving on to the University of Chicago (1959-1964), and then Tulane University (1964-1971).
